The Battle of the Creative Teams at DigiscrapAddicts.com is coming to a close!  I was just soooo excited last week when the Round 1 Challenge was open that I forgot to blog about it!

Anyway, our team Merkeley’s Menagerie has joined the competition!  There are 5 of us girls and each of us had to make a LO based on the current challenge.

The Round 1 Challenge is:

Since this is the first week, we thought we’d go easy on ya! Your challenge this week is:

White Space

Quote:
“White space is nothing. It breaks up text and graphics. It provides visual breathing room for the eye. Add white space to make a page less cramped, confusing, or overwhelming.”
-about.com

Make a white space (or negative space) layout.

Easy, huh? Not so much! Your team layouts must have a common color theme (examples: black and white; monochromatic; red, white and blue…).

Optional: For all you over-achievers out there, see if you can come up with a common theme or topic for your team to scrap, as well!

Our team chose the elements of our team as follows:

Color theme: Brown and Blue (brown background with at least one blue element)
Subject theme: A Sweet Memory and the title should reflect the subject in some way (sweet memory, wonderful memory, memories, Memory to Remember, I’ll Always Remember, etc).
Use of a Sepia/monochromatic photo

And so…uhmm with me loving white space and doing a few white space LOs, I decided to make my LO very, VERY simple.  Of course, it’s also a very sweet memory.

All Grown Up!

I got good news!  I submitted in an app and got accepted to Val, geniaBeana Scraps‘ Creative Team!  Yay!

This is my very first layout that I did for Val and I fell in love with it!  This time, I used a photo of my cousin Ela who is all grown up now – she’s a Freshman in High School.  She was my Junior Bridesmaid in my wedding last year because she was still too young to be a Bridesmaid and too old to be a Flower Girl.  And because she is practically my sister, well, I had to make room for her!

Hmmm I’m already finding my niche and style in scrapping.  I find that I am more inclined to make clusters AND using whitespace!  Hahaha
